Re: broken r 1878s vam 2

78-S VAM-1E did come before the 103 die 5, however 103 die 5 is listed along with its sibling 103 die 1 to 4 as sharing the same obverse II 15. Also, 1E was one of the early VAMs listed by Leroy and a few of the early VAMs have been eliminated i.e. V-1A, 1F, and 1H.

Re: broken r 1878s vam 2

It seems that those of us who are serious about 78-S wonder about
those who have VAM-1 and/or VAM-2 in their 1878-S registry set.
I an of the opinion that VAM-1 and VAM-2 should be eliminated from the registry set.
Also consider if 1E should be eliminated from the registry set.

78-S VAM-82 additional photo

This attribute of the 78-S VAM-82 is not one of the VAMWorld photos for the VAM-82.
Could someone, in their spare time, please load to the VAM-82 info. Thanks.

Re: 1878 S Broken 'r' in trust, broken 4th star on both coins.

Over the years I have attempted to keep track of what 78-S VAMs had a 4th right star not broken, which 4th star was missing the point, and the others with the broken 4th star. My current list has full 4th star as VAMs 5, 6, 10, 16, 18, 22, 65, 77, 100, 109, and 111 – 18 has a chipped point and 22 is...

1 does not have lines by P nor have lines by U

Early Die State of 78-S VAM 42B

Here is what looks to be an Early Die State (EDS) of the 78-S VAM 42B; it does not have the die scratches, but it does have the denticle clashes and gouges.

Also pictured are the gouges at the reverse right star

I had a heck of a time getting the gouge remnant to show.
Not a good photo but I finally get the remnant to show.

Here is my Numismatic Scrapbook Magazine from April 1965.
John Roberts mentions this article a few discussion above.
It contains LVA article titled 1878 7/8 Tailfeather Silver Dollar: How and Why.
The write goes from page 948 to 953. Two of the pages contain 12 pictures, six pictures per page.

Re: 1892-CC What VAM ?

The 92-CC has a lot of toning.
I can easily see the reverse die clash by wreath.
I cannot see much of the obverse clashing.

1892-CC What VAM ?

A friend has this 92-CC.
The photo shows a lot of die cracks and a strong reverse clash.
From this photo of reverse die crack can anyone identify VAM?

Trying to locate someone

I and a fellow collector are trying to locate a collector named Norman Fitzwater.
My friend says Norman is/was a GSA dollar collector.
I am asking on this forum since maybe Norman also collected VAMs.

Re: Rare 1878s vam 67 found

I think this has been asked before -- any info on Calvin Cherry.
I see in LVA's 78S attribution guide Calvin last had a discovery of 78-S V-97 in Nov '05.
