3C(revised) IV 1 · D2a (Pitted Reverse LL & UN, Doubled Lower Right Reverse)
Reverse D2a – Pitted die from rust spots around LL in DOLLAR and UN in UNITED. Slight doubling on ERICA in AMERICA and LAR in DOLLAR. (Formerly VAM 3G.)

COMMENTS: In 2006, two separate die states were recognized. In 2007, a third was discovered.
3EL is an early die state of the 3C, which is a Hot 50 List coin.

This variety has pitting around the UN of UNITED. Additionally, the LL of DOLLAR is also pitted. Because of this find, VAM-3C and VAM-3G in the large VAM book were discovered to be the same die. Early and late die states have more or less pitting in these regions causing the 3C / 3G confusion.
