8 III2 5 - C3f (O/O/CC Centered Shifted Left) (181) I-5 R-4/5
Obverse III2 5 - Date set further left than normal.
Reverse C3f - Normal die with III O mint mark, centered and upright, with doubled O punched over CC. O is doubled at top left outside with notch missing at 11 o'clock in doubling and doubled at bottom inside of opening as a thin curved line. The CC mint mark is centered and shifted left under the O and shows as a thin broken curve on the left and two thick projections on the right connected to the O.

1- The 1900-O VAM-8 comes along with two other variations attributed as the 1900-O VAM-8A , 1900-O VAM-8B, and 1900-O VAM-8C. The difference between these is that the VAM-8B is a die clashed coin. The VAM-8 shows the O/O/CC mintmark details. The VAM-8A has the same mintmark along with pitting believed to be caused by rusted dies. The VAM-8B has these details with die clashed letters n,s,t, on the obverse and the designer's M on the reverse. The VAM-8C has extensive polish marks on the reverse to remove the clash damage.
2- Mintmark on the reverse which is the primary attribute to recognize the VAM-8 varieties. You will notice that the mintmarks on the VAM-8 varieties are also shifted slightly left of center.
