Counterfeits may be added S mintmarks to 1893-P, altered digits, or struck or molded copies.
Due to the large number and frequency at which fakes are currently being found a photo galley has been assembled.

The entire mintage was produced using one obverse die and two reverse dies.
The date is positioned with the left edge of the base of the 1 over the right half of the third denticle from the point of the neck and the right edge of the base of the 1 is over the left half of the fifth denticle. (RH3 LH5)

Two small die gouges nicknamed the 'rabbit ears' are found in the left foot of the R of LIBERTY. Note the scratch inside the T as well
An almost horizontal die scratch may be found between the lower wheat and first cotton leaf

The 'normal' mintmark reverse has the S set upright almost perfectly centered under the bow knot.
It is slightly closer to the bow above it than the leters DO below it.
The 'tilted' mintmark reverse has the S set with a tilt to the right. It is slightly closer to the letters DO below it
than the bow above it. There is a diagonal line down slightly to the left thru the center of the bow opening
