1892-S VAM-7 Doubled 892, S Tilted Right

Discovered by Martin Field, January 1982.

This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM.

Obverse III2 2 - Obverse of 1892-S VAM-2 polished down. Only curved lines in top loops of 8 and 9 remain.
Reverse C3b - Mint mark set with slight tilt to right.

Comments:
1- The date crack seen on some VAM-2 specimens is evident on all VAM-7 ones.
2- VAM-7 can be found in the VAM-2 attributed holders of all third party grading services.

The doubling of the 2 remains from the VAM-2 pairing.


The mint mark differentiates VAM-2 from VAM-7. The VAM-2 mint mark is relatively high and centered. The VAM-7 mint mark is more central but with a definite right tilt. Notice that is appears closer to the right ribbon than the left ribbon.
