1878-S VAM-75A Doubled E L-BUS, UNUM, Eng. Wing Feather, Acid Treated Wings

Discovered by Craig Lickenbrock, August 2006.
Revised 2012.

75A(revised) II 31 · B2al (Doubled E L-BUS, UNUM, Eng. Wing Feather, Pitted Wings) (181) I-2 R-5
Reverse B2al– Raised dots and splotches in center of both wings from light acid treatment. Heavy die file and polishing lines in fields in attempt to remove rusted die pits. Die later polished again after clashing.

Comments:
1- Images of a late stage prooflike. Notice the extreme die polish. One can test how careless a TPG is by sending one of these to grade. If it comes back as cleaned, you know they didn't really look at it clearly.
