1878-S VAM-108 S/S Lines

Discovered by C. Logan McKechnie October 2007.

108 II1 - B2bi (S/S Lines) (184) I-2 R-6
Obverse II1- Small die chip right of next to bottom cotton leaf.
Reverse B2bi- Centered mint mark repunched with vertical line in center of lower loop, spike in center of upper loop and split top and bottom serifs. No engraved feather. R in TRUST not broken. Series of short vertical die scratches in middle of eagle's right outer wing feathers, and near inner feathers. A single horizontal die scratch thru eagle's right leg, mostly on right side--as is shown in the photograph below--IS the key pick up point for this variety.

Comments:
1- Make sure you don't have a VAM-33, which can have a similar scratch.
