1878-P VAM-228B Polishing Line Thru O in OF

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, November 2002.

This coin is a Hit List 40 Morgan Vam.

228B II 2 · C3a (Polishing Line Thru O in OF) (176) I-2 R-6
Obverse II 2– Die Marker - Three vertical polishing lines in middle outside of ear. Diagonal Polishing Lines in the Base of the T in LIBERTY. Broken 4th right star.
Reverse C3a– Key marker– Polishing line transecting the berries between the first and second left wreath cluster. Long diagonal die polishing line thru the O in OF (Same die as VAM-227-1) is found on most specimens.

Comments:
1- Early die state specimens of this reverse do not have the polishing line thru the O in OF!
