1878-P VAM-210 Line Through Y, Extra Feather
Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.
II 2 • C2a (Line Through Y, Extra Feather) (194) I-3 R-6
Obverse II 2–
Vertical polishing line through Y in LIBERTY.
Same as C1a except that inner serif of left A in AMERICA is thinner. No doubling of right wreath, legend or motto letters. Bottom feather of eagle’s right wing extends to junction of next two feathers, and a thin line is present between eagle’s right leg and first wing feather.
Long diagonal die scratches thru eagle’s right two tail feathers down to right wreath and another scratch from bottom of arrow feathers to left side of wreath bow.
Vertical polishing line thru Y in LIBERTY.
