1878-P VAM-143 Doubled 8

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.

143(revised) II/I 23 - B2l (Doubled 8) (180) I-3 R-4
Obverse II/I 23- Doubled LIBERTY shifted left. Doubled P, R and B in PLURIBUS and left U in UNUM. Doubled 2, 6, and 7 left stars and top outside of left 8 in date with extra metal inside bottom lop. Short spike below eyelid front.
Reverse B2l- Extensive polishing die scratches in eagle's tail feathers and in leaves to left and right of wreath bow. Two thin engraved bars with fine lines on surface between eagle's right wing and leg. Fine vertical engraving lines between eagle's right wing and body. (Same die as VAM-145.) Broken 'o' of 'God' in the reverse motto.

Comments:this is one of the evil mimicks of the vam 123,fortunately is easy to tell them apart
