Revised 2009; revised February 2012 by Clayton Christiansen

134(revised) II 7 · B2g (Doubled UR-BUS UNU, Reverse Legend) (180) I-3 R-5
Obverse II 7– Slightly doubled UR-BUS UNU at top inside of letters and right stars towards coin center. Die markers: Fine horizontal polishing line thru top of right wheat leaf and raised dot on top right serif on E. (Also on VAM-197 which shares this Obverse)
Reverse B2g– Slightly doubled STATES AMERICA, right star and some leaves in top two clusters of right wreath towards coin center. Die markers: Very early die state doesn't show polishing lines. Later polished state shows only heavy die polishing line looped around the olive branch right end and a few above R in DOLLAR and last A of AMERCA. Late die state coins have added fine isolated die polish lines avove NE D, below tail feathers and arrow heads. R in Trust not broken and o in God not open.

Comments:
1- The II7 Obverse is also found as the obverse of 1878-P VAM-197.
2- Doubled LIBERTY features no polishing lines that can be used as diagnostics. A circulated coin without the doubling on the S readily visible may be mistaken for a "featureless" VAM 131. Verify with the secondary diagnostics.
3- Early die state coin has a prooflike obverse.
4- Very early die state has 2-sided PL or DMPL surfaces.

Additional photos:
photo is indicative of the normally encountered LDS coins only! Early die state coins with PL obverse lack this feature.
The reverse has many fairly strong polishing lines. These fade as the die wears. They
also become difficult to see on circulated examples. The strong line in the field above
and parallel to the second right wreath cluster is still visible on most examples.
