1878-P VAM-113 Flake on Cheek

Discovered by Leroy Van Allen, December 1965.

113 II/I 15 - B2a (Flake on Cheek) (194) I-2 R-4
Obverse II/I 15 - Type II LIBERTY; doubled N, U, M in UNUM; doubled 2 star on left and 1, 2, and 5 stars on right. Both 8's in date doubled. Die break through center ear, and large die flake on cheek.

Large chip is on the cheek to the left of the ear. Surface is rough between the hair lock and the ear. Crack in the ear has a small break at its right end.
